How to Tie Waist Beads
Here are simple instructions on how to tie your waist beads. (Video tutorial below as well)
- Untie your waist beads. Most beads are tied in a slip knot — pull the string to release the knot.
- Choose where you'd like to place the beads on your stomach or hips.
- Once you've chosen your placement, shift all the excess beads toward the end of the string.
- Tie both ends of the string in a knot.
Important: To strengthen the knot, wrap the thread in a loop around the waist beads, tie, and repeat 3x — pulling the thread tightly each time to secure the knot.
- Cut off excess thread and beads after tying.
- Use a lighter and the top of the flame to flash burn your beads. Do NOT hold the fire on the beads — just flash the top of the flame over them a few times to seal the knot.
Suggestion: Get creative with your excess beads! Use them as ankle bracelets, or reloop them around your waist for the illusion of a second strand.
